College Football World Reacts To Historic Gatorade News
Gatorade and college athletics have been tied at the hip for generations. But the beverage company just made an announcement that has the college football world buzzing this morning.
On Thursday, Front Office Sports reported that Gatorade has reached an NIL deal with Jackson State quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The deal makes Sanders the first HBCU athlete to ever sign with the iconic beverage company.
The 2021 season was a historic one for Sanders and his father, head coach Deion Sanders. Shedeur threw for 3,231 yards and 30 touchdowns as the Tigers won the SWAC Championship and appeared in the Celebration Bowl.
Some believe that Sanders is primarily getting the deal because of his last name. But the overwhelming majority of fans are happy that the young quarterback is getting his due and making history:

HBCUs historically have not received as much love and attention as some of their other FCS counterparts. But Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders have been working hard to change that.
They’re coming off an 11-2 season that has already impressed many and things have gotten even better for the Tigers in the weeks since the season ended.
Their recruiting efforts landed Travis Hunter, the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. They have several more elite prospects set to join what could be one of the best HBCU recruiting classes in generations.
History is being made at Jackson State seemingly every month. Let’s see if that yields them national acclaim by the end of 2022.
