College Football World Reacts To Coach O’s National Title Prediction

LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron goes off.

To the bewilderment of college football fans, an unexpected guest gave a pep talk to Notre Dame’s squad.

The team’s Twitter page shared a clip of Ed Orgeron speaking to the Fighting Irish players. LSU’s former head coach told the group that they’re capable of bringing home the program’s first national title since 1988.

“Some of the best players in the country are right here in this room,” Orgeron said. “I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but with this staff and this team, you’re gonna win it all.”

Fans couldn’t shake the oddity of the former Tigers coach motivating a school whose former head coach, Brian Kelly, left to take Orgeron’s old job in Death Valley. Some even wondered if that’s what led him to South Bend.

That’s a fun theory, but Steven Godfrey offered a more reasonable explanation. Notre Dame’s new head coach, Marcus Freeman, impressed Orgeron enough to get offered LSU’s defensive coordinator position before joining Cincinnati’s coaching staff.

Of course, Orgeron’s voice takes center stage whenever he speaks. One fan made light of Kelly adapting a Southern accent after moving to Louisiana.

Now that would have made this the strangest video ever.

Notre Dame has notched double-digit victories in each of the last five seasons, but the Fighting Irish have yet to win a College Football Playoff game in two tries. Orgeron believes that could change soon.
