College Football World Reacts To Coach O’s National Title Prediction
To the bewilderment of college football fans, an unexpected guest gave a pep talk to Notre Dame’s squad.
The team’s Twitter page shared a clip of Ed Orgeron speaking to the Fighting Irish players. LSU’s former head coach told the group that they’re capable of bringing home the program’s first national title since 1988.
“Some of the best players in the country are right here in this room,” Orgeron said. “I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but with this staff and this team, you’re gonna win it all.”

Fans couldn’t shake the oddity of the former Tigers coach motivating a school whose former head coach, Brian Kelly, left to take Orgeron’s old job in Death Valley. Some even wondered if that’s what led him to South Bend.
Rewind to January 10, 2020. I’m sure we all had Brian Kelly as the head coach at LSU and Ed Orgeron as the motivational guest speaker at Notre Dame 28 months later https://t.co/abo2EKzWMU

Not even gonna lie, this is odd to watch https://t.co/abxCKRmxtX

Of all the crossover episodes on all the networks, this one is absolutely the weirdest https://t.co/E0e44mXHZT

Ed Orgeron basically subtweeting Brian Kelly https://t.co/rxuh2sgOqK

This is a shot at Brian Kelly and no one can tell me otherwise lol https://t.co/3bmDdeWEMJ

That’s a fun theory, but Steven Godfrey offered a more reasonable explanation. Notre Dame’s new head coach, Marcus Freeman, impressed Orgeron enough to get offered LSU’s defensive coordinator position before joining Cincinnati’s coaching staff.
For those of you wondering how this happened – O heavily recruited Freeman to LSU as DC, they know each other. https://t.co/VQhqRaPPbg

Of course, Orgeron’s voice takes center stage whenever he speaks. One fan made light of Kelly adapting a Southern accent after moving to Louisiana.
he should've somehow affected a midwestern accent for this https://t.co/hw88sm2GZu

Now that would have made this the strangest video ever.
Notre Dame has notched double-digit victories in each of the last five seasons, but the Fighting Irish have yet to win a College Football Playoff game in two tries. Orgeron believes that could change soon.
