College football signing day tracker 2024: Live updates, top recruits & classes for early signing period

Good bye 2023, hello 2024.

The early signing period takes over the college football world Wednesday as the nation's top recruits finally, officially, make their decisions for the upcoming season. While some players will wait until February's National Signing Day to make their final decisions, a lot of the dominoes will fall this week during the early period.

For the moment, every school is chasing Georgia, which sits atop the recruiting class leaderboards per 247Sports' Composite rankings. But there's still a lot of figuring out to do as college football hurdles toward bowl season.

Ohio State has secured a commitment from the top player in the class, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. However, other schools are still doggedly pursuing the prospective star. Will he remain with Buckeyes, or will another team woo him before pen goes to paper? Elsewhere, everyone is waiting to see what happens with Dylan Raiola, who committed to Georgia, the alma mater of godfather Matthew Stafford. But rumors are swirling he may join Nebraska, where his father and former NFL center Dominic Raiola went to school.

Here are the latest updates and breakdowns of this year's early signing period:

Early signing day 2024 latest updates

9:01 a.m.: Here comes Georgia. The Bulldogs land a slew of signings, including No. 3 Ellis Robinson IV, No. 8 Justin Williams, and No. 98 Ondre Evans. One of the top defenses in the country the past few years, Georgia doesn't rebuild. It reloads. Malaki Starks made a quick impact for Georgia. Robinson in particular could do the same.

8:56 a.m.: Georgia has churned out linebackers in recent years. The newest to join is Chris Cole, out of Salem, a four-star who will look to make inroads with Kirby Smart's talented corps.

8:54 a.m.: In addition to Scott, Miami has another high-profile rusher in Marquise Lightfoot. Lightfoot, an edge rusher, is 6-foot-5 with explosive burst off the snap.

8:51 a.m.: Alabama has another top lineman, with No. 1 interior lineman Casey Poe joining the Crimson Tide.

8:45 a.m.: Miami has a high-profile signing in defensive lineman Justin Scott, the No. 3 DL in the country by 247Sports Composite. A 6-foot-4 lineman out of Chicago, Scott brings versatility to the Miami front.

8:45 a.m.: Ohio State lands a pair of offensive threats in quick succession: No. 95 overall by 247Sports Composite James Peoples and No. 23 overall Mylan Graham. People joins a long line of outstanding Ohio State running backs, whereas Graham will try to compete in what is perennially one of the top receiving rooms in the nation.

8:22a.m.: The name Bryant has a legacy among Clemson receivers. Bryant Wesco is looking to add to it. The 6-foot-2 receiver from Texas will head out east for Dabo Swinney's program.

8:19 a.m.: Oklahoma is padding depth in its receiver room, signing No. 72 recruit Zion Kearney. Kearney comes over from Missouri City, Texas.

8:13 a.m.: No. 1 defensive lineman and No. 2 recruit Williams Nwaneri signed with Missouri, its top recruit since Dorial Green-Beckham. Eliah Drinkwitz continues to build a special program in Columbia.

8:00 a.m.: The No. 1-ranked quarterback is officially headed to Alabama as Julian Sayin signs with the Crimson Tide.

7:55 a.m.: Nebraska has already signed its three top recruits in Raiola, tight end Carter Nelson (No. 61 overall) and offensive guard Grant Brix (No. 78). Second-year coach Matt Rhule putting together a much-improved class.

7:04 a.m.: One of the first five-stars recruits has put pen to paper, as receiver Cam Williams (No. 29 overall) has signed with Notre Dame.

6:56 a.m.: South Carolina signs its sixth-best recruit ever in edge rusher Dylan Stewart (No. 17 overall) and another five-star in offensive tackle Josiah Thompson. Gamecocks have put together a solid class heading into coach Shane Beamer's fourth season.

6:05 a.m.: Nebraska has its quarterback of the future locked in, as former Georgia commit Dylan Raiola (No. 6 overall) has signed with the Cornhuskers. Raiola flipped his pledge to Nebraska on Monday. Raiola is Nebraska's highest-ranked signee of all time.
