If there was any doubt about John Calipari’s ability to recruit five-star talent at this stage in his career, he just put it to rest.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Kentucky Wildcats landed a commitment from five-star recruit Chris Livingston. The Oak Hill Academy product is the No. 6 overall recruit and No. 2 small forward in the 2022 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.

With the addition of Livingston, the Wildcats now have the No. 1 recruiting class for the 2022 cycle. That class includes the No. 1 recruit in the country in Shaedon Sharpe, as well as a five-star point guard in Skyy Clark.

It’ll be a while until we see Kentucky’s star-studded trio on the court, but college basketball fans are already anxious to see them in action.

What’s truly remarkable about the Wildcats’ 2022 recruiting class is that it could get even better in the coming months.

“Kentucky’s 2022 recruiting class may wind up being its best since the Harrisons, James Young, and Julius Randle in 2013,” college basketball insider Jon Rothstein said.

“It’s time to talk with your kids about the possibility of John Calipari putting together the best recruiting class of all-time in 2022,” Kyle Boone of CBS Sports said. “Could wind up with six top-20 commitments in the cycle. Only one program has ever done that in the modern era, Kentucky in 2013.”

Kentucky struggled this past season, going 9-16 and missing the NCAA Tournament.

Although fans have to wait until 2022 to see the Wildcats’ loaded recruiting class, we believe it’ll be worth the wait.
