Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since the 2016 season. However, he still has his sights set on a return to the league.

Kaepernick is in the “best shape of his life,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Additionally, a video of the former second-round pick working out went viral this Thursday on Twitter.

“In the best shape of his life. He wants to play. He’s ready play,” one source told Schefter. “He would be a great fit for teams with QB vacancies to fill who want to win a Super Bowl

There are some fans who believe Kaepernick deserves a second chance in the NFL. And of course, there are fans who can’t see Kaepernick being effective at this stage in his career.

“I will NEVER be convinced that Colin Kaepernick is not better than 80% of the back up QB that’s are employed right now. If Jake Fromm and Mike Glennon can still be employed by the NFL then a former Super Bowl and Pro Bowl QB should get a shot to be a on a team as well,” an NFL fan tweeted.

“I have a real hard time believing a guy who has been out of the league for 6 years could come back and be good, regardless of how great an athlete he was,” another fan wrote.

One fan said, “However you feel about him as a person, who is signing a 34-year-old who hasn’t played football since 2016, has a career completion percentage below 60, and has just one season where he’s thrown for more than 20 (21) TDs?”

During his time with the 49ers, Kaepernick had 12,271 passing yards, 72 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions.

Time will tell if Kaepernick gets another opportunity to play in the NFL.
