Colin Kaepernick may not have taken an NFL snap in over five years, but his throwing arm still has some NFL strength.

During halftime of Saturday’s Maize and Blue spring game in Ann Arbor, the former San Francisco quarterback participated in a 15-minute throwing workout in an attempt to attract the attention of NFL scouts.

On his final throw of the day, Kaepernick launched an effortless bomb deep down field.

This throw is going viral on social media.

Some fans were impressed by this big-time throw.

“At least work him out, a bunch of backups who are in the league can’t make that throw,” one wrote.

“Yeah.. Kap still can ball. Who’s gonna give him a chance tho?” another added.

Others, not so much.

“Awesome job hitting an uncovered receiver with no rush,” one fan wrote sarcastically.

“Anyone can throw a football with no pads or pressure,” another added.

The last time Kaepernick took the field in the NFL was in January 2017 — the final regular-season game of the Niners’ 2016-17 season.

Since then, he’s made several attempts at an NFL comeback. This offseason he’s making an especially strong push: posting workout videos, training with current NFL players and participating in today’s workout.

Kaepernick addressed the media after today’s halftime throwing session.

“We still can get out there and sling it,” he said, per Jeanna Trotman of WXYZ Detroit. “Really, getting out here today for the exhibition was to be able to show that I can do that. Because one of the questions that my agent kept getting was, ‘Well, it’s been five years. Can he still play?’ So we want to make sure we can come out, show everyone I can still play, still throw it. And really just looking for an opportunity for a door to open, to have that be a pathway to be able to get back in there, get a starting job and lead a team to a championship.”

The former Super Bowl QB says he’s open to rejoining the league as a backup option.

“I can help make you a better team. I can help you win games,” he added. “I know right now the situation likely won’t allow me to come in and step into a starting role. I know I’ll be able to work my way to that and show that very quickly.”
