The Steelers began the 2021 season on a high note by beating one of the NFL’s best teams on Sunday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to impress FS1’s Colin Cowherd.

No one gave the Steelers a chance to beat the Bills, who are widely viewed as the Chiefs’ biggest threat in the AFC, on Sunday. But Pittsburgh emerged victorious 23-16 in Buffalo.

Ben Roethlisberger didn’t have his best game (18 of 32 for 188 yards and one touchdown). But it was enough to carry the Steelers to victory, which was of course aided by an impressive performance by Pittsburgh’s defense.

It’s tough to walk away unhappy by a win. But Cowherd thinks he has more concerns than answers following the Steelers’ Week 1 performance. Most of those concerns revolve around Big Ben.

“Ben looked old in Week 1. … What are they going to look like in Week 17? … It’s Week 1. Super Bowls are not won in September… I don’t see the Steelers’ traits.”

The good news is that it’s Week 1. The bad news is that Ben Roethlisberger isn’t getting any younger.

Colin Cowherd’s right. The Steelers need to “win ugly” if they’re going to win the AFC North this season. We know what we’re getting out of Big Ben at this point, and it’s not high offensive productivity.

Yes, the Steelers beat the Bills on Sunday. And yes, Big Ben did enough. But there’s reason to have concerns surrounding what this Pittsburgh team will look like by season’s end.
