Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley was fined by the team today for a violation of the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols. Naturally, the outspoken wideout had something to say on the matter.

Taking to Twitter in response to a report from Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic, Beasley gave his side of the story. He claimed that he wore his mask for the whole day at Bills camp except for one instance from the entry door to the team’s locker room.

“I wore a mask that whole day but got fined because I didn’t have it in from entry door to the locker room. Which is literally 5 steps,” Beasley wrote.

Beasley was ultimately sent home along with several teammates for coming into close-contact with someone who had COVID-19. Along with Gabriel Davis, Star Lotulelei, Vernon Butler, they will not be permitted to rejoin the team for several days.

Back in June, Cole Beasley expressed public disdain for vaccines. He subsequently got into numerous arguments with fans, rivals and even teammates over their use.

The NFL has made it very clear that there will be severe consequences for teams that fail to field enough players to play games due to COVID-19 this coming season. While it’s completely within Beasley’s right to be obstinate, the consequences of his actions could cause a rift with the rest of the team.

It’s doubtful that knowledge will affect Beasley’s decision-making at all. But everyone at Orchard Park will know who to point the finger at if things go south.

Hopefully Beasley isn’t too attached to his money. Knowing him, he’s going to be losing a lot more.
