Coldplay Performance to Open Brit Awards Show – Global Bulletin

In today’s Global Bulletin, Coldplay to open Brit Awards show; Channel 4 drama “Screw” sets cast; NATPE and Banijay Rights appoint senior personnel; and Red Arrow Studios International and TV Asahi set co-development partnership.

A performance by Coldplay, one of the world’s biggest bands with over 100 million album sales worldwide to date, will open this year’s Brit Awards show on May 11.

The awards will take place at London’s The O2 arena, exclusively broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub and hosted by comedian and actor Jack Whitehall. Coldplay’s first TV performance in over a year will see the band performing on a pontoon on the Thames near The O2, and will follow the release of their new single “Higher Power” which releases May 7.

Coldplay joins an array of stellar acts including Arlo Parks; Dua Lipa; Griff, this year’s Rising Star winner; Headie One; Olivia Rodrigo and Rag’n’Bone Man; and P!nk with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.

The Brit Awards last month announced that it will be the first major indoor music event to welcome back a live audience.
