Cockatoo Parents Let Him FaceTime with Toddler and Instantly Regret It

Birds are not for everyone. Well they're probably not great around young children, as one couple recently saw when they allowed their pet Cockatoo to talk to a toddler and it sort of went haywire.

Buster has a big personality, but perhaps he's a little much for a toddler who's just figuring out how to walk and talk.

Buster's owners were FaceTiming with the child and at first it started off okay.

"Rock and roll!" the Cockatoo said to the phone. "Hi!" the bird added. "Oh my god!"

As for the toddler, it seemed like at first they were tickled. But then things took sort of a sour turn when the bird dropped the F-bomb. Things only got more and more chaotic from there. Buster started howling with laughter. We can only imagine how strange things looked on the other end.

Obviously things didn't go exactly as planned. Causing the couple to make a strong decision: "No more Cockatoo FaceTime with a toddler," they wrote.

Chatty Bird Breeds

Talking birds are not only super cool, they'll always keep things interesting. And they're pretty darn funny too. Cockatoos aren't necessarily the best at talking, but they certainly have something to say and are known for being chatty. Here are some other breeds that are known for yakking it up.

African Grey Parrots are sort of the complete opposite of Cockatoos. If Cockatoos aren't the best at talking, African Greys are sort of naturals. These birds are highly intelligent and are known for having huge vocabularies. Research shows that African Greys can sometimes even use words correctly and in-context, although they can't exactly understand what they're saying.

Macaws are another breed that are known for talking. They aren't quite as verbose as African Greys but they can certainly mimic speech. Some of their words might come out garbled, but they really love talking. So if you get a Macaw be prepared for many conversations that might leave you scratching your head.

Eclectus birds aren't the most talkative, but they do have an extensive vocabulary. Eclectus are friendly, gentle, and thrive being socialized. So they're likely down to have a chat.

Indian Ringneck Parakeets are actually quite talented. They can learn both longer phrases and short words. They are also very clear speakers, meaning that you'll always understand what they're saying.

No matter what kind of chatty bird you get, it's important to not teach them swear words. Or else your bird might get banned from FaceTime like Buster did.
