Cocaine Bear star mocks MCU in hilarious 'explainer' video

Cocaine Bear star Scott Seiss has mocked the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an hilarious ‘explainer’ video for the comedy film.

The actor, who plays paramedic Tom in the film, posted a video onto his social media feed, riffing on the superhero films’ interconnected world.

In the video, Scott begins by saying “Here’s what you need to know before you see Cocaine Bear. Nothing. You don’t need to read a comic book from 1978. The bear wasn’t introduced at the end of Eternals.

“If you’ve ever heard the words ‘cocaine’ or ‘bear’ before you’re completely up to speed. Don’t come to this movie for a pop quiz, okay? As Nicole Kidman said: “We come to Cocaine Bear for magic,” he joked, in reference to the actor’s advertisement for AMC Theatres.

“You’re not going to see any articles after like: ‘Cocaine Bear ending explained’” he continued. “You’re just going to see ones that say: ‘Remember the ending of Cocaine Bear? We do too, it f***ing ruled’.” He later proclaimed that the movie would be “one billion times better” than Citizen Kane, but only “conservatively.”

The film, which is remarkably based on a true story, follows a bear on a rampage after it consumes 500lb of the drug. The film is directed by Elizabeth Banks and stars Keri Russell, and the latter recently revealed what attracted her to the project.

“Liz [Banks] called me, we were on the phone talking about this other project [that was] very different in tone to Cocaine Bear,” began Russell. “She called me the next day and said, 'Hey, do you want to read this other crazy thing that I'm directing?' and I was like, 'Yes.'

“It was in the midst of COVID and all the craziness that the world was going through, I think it made us all want to do a movie like this, for pure escapism and to laugh so hard and do something so wild and not real,” she explained.

Cocaine Bear is in cinemas from February 24.
