Over the past few weeks, Oklahoma and Texas have dominated the headlines thanks to their looming move to the SEC.

It’s unclear when Oklahoma and Texas will make the official jump to their new conference. Both are tied to the Big 12 through the 2025 season – at least through media rights.

However, the trash talk between the Sooners, Longhorns and current SEC teams has already begun. On Wednesday afternoon, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron had a stern warning for the newest members of college football’s most dominant conference.

“I do believe it’s good,” Orgeron said. “This is becoming a superconference. I think it’s going to open up some areas in recruiting … I think it’s maybe going to open their eyes a little.”

Coach O isn’t the first – and he won’t be the last – SEC member to have a bold message for Oklahoma and Texas. Earlier this week, former Texas A&M star quarterback Johnny Manziel had a message for both teams.

“If they want to come to the SEC and see what it’s all about then we’ll welcome them with open arms,” he said. “But it is no cake walk and it is not the Big 12 so it should be interesting to see how things play out.”

While we don’t know when the move will officially happen, it’s clear the trash talk has already begun.
