CMA Fans Are Outraged After the Show Skips Tributes for Naomi Judd and Olivia Newton-John

The 2022 CMA Awards went off without a hitch and brought some of country music's biggest names into one room. With jaw-dropping performances from artists like Carrie Underwood, host Luke Bryan, and a slew of special collaborations that we didn't know we needed, it was truly a star-studded night to remember.

Although it was a celebratory moment, the community was definitely feeling the lost of many icons who passed away this year.

Before heading into the night's electrifying performances, the show opened up with a very special tribute to the legendary Loretta Lynn, who died in October.

In a beautiful, sequin gown, Carrie Underwood took to the stage to perform a snippet of Loretta's 1966 hit "You Ain't Woman Enough". With a slideshow of throwback photos of the late singer, Carrie was soon joined on stage by Miranda Lambert who wore her signature embroidered mini dress as she belted "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'".

After a short pause, the audience was elated to see Reba McEntire taking to the stage after battling health concerns to perform "You're Lookin' At Country" in an outfit that fans immediately recognized.

Fans all agreed that the beginning of the show "was an extraordinary, spectacular, gorgeous and blessed tribute to Loretta."

After Reba shared a few snapshots from the night, however, fans weren't shy to point out that the CMA Awards failed to give any mention to two other iconic ladies that passed earlier this year—Naomi Judd and Olivia Newton-John.

"This was great, but I'm disappointed that they didn't do a tribute to Naomi Judd," one said. "We lost Naomi Judd too. Did anyone honor her tonight," said another.

Although, her daughter Wynonna Judd presented an award, the legendary matriarch was otherwise barely mentioned during the award ceremony.

"Why didn't CMA mention Olivia Newton John in their memorial tribute? She did have several country hits," another person wrote. The actress famous for her role in Grease won not one, but two Grammy Awards in country music categories, as well as Female Vocalist at the 1976 CMAs and New Female vocalist at the ACMs.

We're interested to see if the CMA Awards have a response for disappointed fans.
