Clovis man found guilty of two counts of battery on peace officer

May 7—A Clovis man Thursday was found guilty of two counts of battery on a peace officer by a Curry County jury.

Francisco Arzola, 46, was accused of punching one officer in the neck and scratching another officer as they attempted to serve a warrant against him in 2021.

The warrant was for failure to pay fines, according to a news release from 9th Judicial District Attorney Quentin Ray.

Arzola is to be sentenced later this month. He also has pending charges out of Bailey County in Texas. After sentencing on the New Mexico conviction, he will be extradited to Texas, the release stated.
