Last minute grocery run? Not sure when to take out the trash? Need to contact local officials? Some Macon-Bibb County government services, banks and mail carriers will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

All Macon-Bibb County government offices and court systems will be closed on Memorial Day.

The county Solid Waste Convenience Center #1 at 1010 11th Street, will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday. The other waste centers at 4214 Fulton Mill Road, and 1520 Ninadel Drive will remain open for the holiday.

Trash and yard waste collection will not run Monday, and will instead be delayed Tuesday through Saturday. If your normal pick-up day is Monday, it will be Tuesday. If your regular pick-up day is Friday, it will be Saturday.

Recycling and bulk waste collection will not be affected, as they were not scheduled for that week.

Those with inquiries on solid waste can call Ryland Environmental at 866-898-4411; for questions about convenience centers, call the Solid Waste Department at 478-803-0499.

County health department offices are closed on all state-observed holidays, according to the health department’s website.

Emergency services including law enforcement and fire departments will remain operational. The county’s emergency management agency will be active if there is severe weather, county spokesperson Chris Floore told The Telegraph.

Most major grocery stores and public pharmacies will remain open.
