Clint Eastwood recently stepped out for a good cause.

On March 24, the 93-year-old actor made a rare appearance at the Reasons for Hope event presented by the Wildlife Conservation Network in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where Dr. Jane Goodall spoke during what the venue, Sunset Center, described as her "90th birthday tour."

"Join us for an unforgettable afternoon where Jane will share the extraordinary stories of her life, advocating for our planet and revealing her reasons for hope," the event's description read.

Eastwood was spotted with a full beard, while sporting blue pants and a jacket over a multicolored button-up flannel as he took in the event. The Cry Macho actor even had a one-on-one chat with Goodall herself.

All proceeds from the Reasons for Hope event went "to support global youth environmental action through Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program," the description added.

While Eastwood is not often spotted at public events, he's still fully dedicated to his craft, including his film Juror No. 2, which will mark the Oscar winner's first movie since 2021's Cry Macho.

The actor and filmmaker was spotted on the Georgia set of the upcoming thriller back in November 2023, where he smiled behind the scenes while working with his crew members.

While Eastwood starred in and directed Cry Macho, Juror No. 2 is led by a cast including Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Chris Messina, Leslie Bibb and Kiefer Sutherland, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking with PEOPLE about working with Eastwood on Juror No. 2, Messina, 49, said in December 2023, "You think you're going to get some tough guy and he is completely gentle and calm and fun and cracking jokes, and a lot of the crew members — [for example], the craft services woman has been with him for 22 years."

Messina continued, "He was awesome. I really loved him. 93 years old and completely with it, great notes, up on his feet behind the camera — just a badass. It was super inspiring."

Meanwhile, Goodall celebrated her 90th birthday on April 3, and the legendary conservationist recently spoke to PEOPLE about the special milestone.

“To be honest, I don’t feel any different from how I was last year at this time,” she admitted.

These days, Goodall spends about 300 days a year traveling and spreading her message of hope, focusing her talks on conserving the natural world and fighting the climate crisis.

“I’m busier than ever,” the ethologist, primatologist and anthropologist told PEOPLE. “I feel that I was put on this planet with a mission.”
