Clever hack shows how to make jeans fit when you don’t have a belt

Finding the perfect pair of jeans can be a nightmare. Maybe you nabbed an oversized pair from a thrift store, dropped a few pounds or didn’t realize the sizes at an online shop run bigger. Whatever the reason, fashion photography vlogger Vi Luong of TikTok’s viluong has got an easy hack to solve the ubiquitous problem.

Luong is full of useful tips, like how to find clothing that enhances your hair color, what to do with your face in photos and how to look taller in Instagram pics. Her TikTok is dedicated to tips and tricks on making small tweaks that are easy enough for anyone to execute.

Like in her video on how to look more photogenic, Luong’s advice is simple. She closes her eyes, then smiles, then opens her eyes again. The result is a smile that is less contrived and more genuine.

Luong’s jean hack is just as effective. She described the trick as having “changed her life” in the caption.

Luong starts with a loose-fitting pair of high-waisted jeans. She undoes her pants and takes the button and slips it through the nearest belt loop. This causes the waistband to pucker, making the jeans snugger. She then buttons her pants again — they fit perfectly.

The video was watched a whopping 11.6 million times on TikTok.

“I have to do this with all my jeans,” one TikTok user commented.

“Throw the belts away,” someone wrote.

“So I bought a belt for nothing,” another said.
