What Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said about Nate Wiggins being drafted by Baltimore Ravens

CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney attended cornerback Nate Wiggins' draft party and shared a tender moment with the defensive back when the Baltimore Ravens selected him 30th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Nate is as talented as we’ve ever had come through here at his position from a skill set standpoint,” Swinney said in a press release. “He’s really honed his craft from when I first met him. He’s a really competitive kid, and how he channeled his competitiveness, he’s really developed.”

Wiggins was the third cornerback selected in the draft after Quinyon Mitchell (Philadelphia Eagles, 22nd overall) and Terrion Arnold (Detroit Lions, 24th overall) were taken ahead of him.

The 6-foot-2, 182-pound defensive back recorded three interceptions, two forced fumbles, 22 pass deflections and 58 tackles as the Tigers' two-year starter in 23 games. He led the Tigers in pass deflections in back-to-back years. At the NFL scouting combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds, fastest among the cornerbacks.

Wiggins was the first Clemson cornerback taken in the first round since A.J. Terrell in 2020.
