Classic Center to require clear bags at all ticketed events. Get the details here.

When "The Book of Mormon" opens at the Classic Center Theatre on May 7, patrons will be required to carry their personal items in a clear bag in accordance with a new security policy that the downtown Athens venue will begin enforcing that day. The announcement was posted on the Classic Center's website on Friday.

The new rule applies to ticketed performances, concerts and sporting events, and prohibits items such as backpacks, camera bags, briefcases, luggage, binocular bags, and computer bags. For entry to be permitted, personal items will have to be secured in a clear bag that is no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”. Fanny packs must be clear as well.

Wallets smaller than 5” x 8” x 2” are acceptable, and exceptions will be made for medical bags and and diaper bags, but those bags may be subject to inspection before entry is allowed. The Classic Center will not permit oversized tote bags or plastic bags that are tinted or have patterns printed on them.
