Clarksville's Parks and Rec prepares for inaugural 8k race, Greenway closures
Runners, joggers and fitness enthusiasts are already doing their warm-ups, while Clarksville's Parks and Recreation is ensuring the safety of participants in its inaugural Greenway 8K Race.
The inaugural Greenway 8K Race, one of many races this year, is only days away and while participants prepare, the Parks and Recreation department wants to make sure everyone is informed as parts of the Greenway close on Sunday, April 21 from 7 a.m. to noon.
Where to park
Parking is available at Heritage Park and Kenwood elementary, middle and high school parking lots. Participants will then need to walk from these parking lots to the Mary's Oak Trailhead for the start of the race.
Mary's Oak Trailhead parking lot and surrounding streets will be prohibited, and any vehicles in those areas will be subject to being towed at the owner's expense.
Where to support the runners
Although registration is closed for the race, there is still a chance to support the runners on Sunday.
For spectators, the Parks and Recreation department is recommending the Pollard Road Trailhead as a prime spot to watch. Parking and restroom facilities are available in the area and runners will be coming through this location.
Food vendors, such as Bondi Bowls, Kadi's Tacos & More and Lemonade Cuties will be on-site at Mary's Oak Trailhead to provide refreshments to runners and spectators.
