Cillian Murphy praises Oppenheimer's sex scenes with Florence Pugh
Cillian Murphy has praised sex scenes between him and Florence Pugh in Oppenheimer.
It was previously revealed that the new biopic would feature steamy scenes between Murphy's character J Robert Oppenheimer and Pugh's Jean Tatlock, earning a 15 rating in the UK in part due to "infrequent nudity and sexual content".
Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Murphy explained that "those scenes were written deliberately" by director Christopher Nolan.

"He knew that those scenes would get the movie the rating that it got," the star said. "And I think when you see it, it's so f***ing powerful. And they're not gratuitous. They're perfect. And Florence is just amazing.
"I have loved Florence's work since Lady Macbeth and I think she's f***ing phenomenal," Murphy went on to say. "She has this presence as a person and on screen that is staggering. The impact she has [in Oppenheimer] for the size of the role, it's quite devastating."
Pugh recently spoke to Digital Spy ahead of Oppenheimer's release, explaining how 2016's Lady Macbeth proved to be a 'game-changer' role for her.

"Lady Macbeth was probably the thing that kicked me into what it was that I wanted to make and what it was that I wanted to be," she said.
Oppenheimer has been getting glowing reviews ahead of its release, with Digital Spy saying in our four-star verdict: "Oppenheimer is absolutely a movie that you'll want to discuss and chew over for days after first viewing.
"It's an absorbing and spectacular watch first and foremost, but also one that provokes you to think about the big, weighty topics that arose from Oppenheimer changing the world."
Oppenheimer is released in cinemas on July 21.
