Church taking unwanted Halloween treats for a cause

Nov. 1—If your trick-or-treaters collected more candy than those in your home can — or should — eat this week, those sweet snacks can be exchanged for a healthier alternative and a good cause.

Turning Point Church of the Nazarene, 5211 Frederick Ave., is hosting its "Great Candy Exchange" from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. Bags of candy can be traded for a goodie bag.

Part of the donated candy will be given to the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City for the families they serve and the rest will go to Move America Forward for its military care package program.
