Christy Turlington is celebrating her youngest child's latest milestone — and how her life is changing as a result!

On Friday, June 14, the 55-year-old supermodel toasted her son Finn on Instagram in honor of his high school graduation, in a post where she noted she was at the beginning of a new chapter for herself, too.

"I am officially an “empty nester” today!" Turlington began her post's caption, adding, "How do I feel about it? Ask me in three months, after my baby has moved out of our home and settled into his college dorm across the country."

"For now, I just want to share how grateful I am. Grateful that me and my child have reached this milestone," she continued.

In the post, Turlington shared a rare snap of her family, featuring herself, her 18-year-old son, husband Ed Burns, and their 20-year-old daughter Grace McKenna. She also shared a few images of Finn on stage at his commencement ceremony, rubbing shoulders with some classmates in New York City, and a few celebratory balloons.

"Every day is a gift, especially when in good health and when we feel safe and well supported. I know by now that life and our experiences are fleeting and that what’s truly important is to make meaningful connections in this lifetime," Turlington continued in her caption. "I want to thank all those who have loved and supported my kid along this wondrous journey so far. You all made it more fun and rewarding every step of the way."

She then made a toast to "whatever is outside of the nest and to embracing as much of it as we possibly can for as long as we can from here."

"Congratulations, Finn & LREI Class of ‘24! We are proud to know you and to claim you as one of ours. #NoFinnNoFun#Chapman28 🧑‍🎓❤️," she added, noting that after attending high school in New York City, Finn will be taking his talents to Chapman University in Orange, California.

Several friends, including Paulina Porizkova and Naomi Campbell, shared congratulatory messages to Finn underneath his mom's social media post.

"He’ll be back in no time when the dorm gets iffy 🤣 #iffydorm," Helena Christensen joked.

Just this month, while attending a New York City luncheon for Through Her Lens: The Tribeca CHANEL Women’s Filmmaker Program, Turlington opened up to PEOPLE about the advice she gave her daughter about modeling. “I told her to stay far away from that,” Turlington said.

"But she’s actually a storyteller, and I have a little bit of that in my work, too, as an advocate," she added, seemingly nodding to Grace’s poetry book, Derived from Us.

“So in that sense, very excited, love her academic pursuits,” Turlington said. “The other part was a little harder to be excited about.”

As a model, Grace made her runway debut in Italy in June 2023, and later appeared alongside her mom in a Carolina Herrera campaign. She told HOMMES Magazine in 2022 that she was allowed to start modeling at 18.
