Christopher Nolan to be given knighthood
Christopher Nolan is set to be honoured with a knighthood.
Just weeks after a clean sweep at the Oscars thanks to his directorial work on Oppenheimer – cast members Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr took home golden statuettes, too – the revered filmmaker's royal nod was announced yesterday (March 28).
According to Deadline, Nolan's wife and producing partner Emma Thomas will also be honoured with a damehood.

King Charles III recognised Netflix's co-CEO Ted Sarandos in the latest honours list as well, handing him an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire title.
"The UK's creative brilliance, quality craftsmanship and best-in-class production facilities make it an extraordinary place to invest. We couldn't be more excited to be part of the creative community here, and this is a real honour," the streaming boss shared in a statement.

On the Academy Awards stage earlier this month, Nolan's victory in the Best Director category (beating Martin Scorsese, no less) was confirmed by Steven Spielberg.
While thanking "the most incredible cast all at the top of their game" in his acceptance speech, he went on to add: "I can't say enough about the incredible crew that we got together in this film.
"To the Academy, just to say movies are just a little bit over 100 years old. I mean, imagine being there 100 years into painting or theatre. We don't know where this incredible journey is going from here. But to know that you think that I'm a meaningful part of it means the world to me."
Oppenheimer tells the story of real-life theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, who became known as the father of the atomic bomb.
