With Christmas approaching, a new study may have the answer for people looking for higher-priced Christmas gifts.

The study, conducted by the website Common Cents Mom, used Google search data to reveal Louis Vuitton as South Carolina’s most popular designer brand of the year.

To establish results, the website analyzed Google search data for the most popular designer brands in the world and ranked them according to the average monthly searches on Google in each state.

The top five designer brands in South Carolina, according to the results, are:

  1. Louis Vuitton

  2. Gucci

  3. Michael Kors

  4. Ralph Lauren

  5. Chanel

Louis Vuitton is a French luxury brand that can arguably be “one of the most recognizable brands in the world,” the study said.

Gucci was the second most popular designer brand in South Carolina. Gucci is an Italian luxury brand known for fashion and leather goods.

American brand Michael Kors is the third most popular designer in South Carolina. Michael Kors is famous for its modern-looking leather bags and its ready-to-wear fashion.

American fashion designer Ralph Lauren ranks fourth on the list for the Palmetto State. The company describes itself as a “a global leader in the design, marketing and distribution of luxury lifestyle products in five categories: apparel, footwear & accessories, home, fragrances, and hospitality.”

Chanel ranked as the fifth most popular designer brand in South Carolina. “Its products cover clothes, fragrances, handbags and watches. The brand is most famous for its ‘little black dress’, the Chanel No. 5 perfume and the Chanel Suit,” wrote Forbes about the luxury brand.

Not looking to spend as much on this year’s styles?

Many of these brands have local outlet stores that sell items made for the mass market with less expensive fabrics and without details that make the higher-quality clothes more expensive. In some instances, clothes sold at outlet stores could be left over from another season or didn’t sell well at their original, higher cost.

The Common Cents mom study revealed the public is searching for a mix of high-end and mid-range apparel.

The overall top luxury brands from the study include,

  1. Hermes

  2. Louis Vuitton

  3. Chanel

  4. Gucci

  5. Tom Ford

  6. Fendi

  7. Burberry
