‘Mad Men’ star Christina Hendricks and George Bianchini started dating in 2020

Christina Hendricks and her fiancé George Bianchini have a lot in common.

“We always want to do the same things. We love the same kind of places, the same food, the same music, the same sense of humor,” she told PEOPLE in November 2023.

The couple were first romantically linked in November 2021 when they attended a Christian Siriano exhibit together in Georgia, but Hendricks revealed to PEOPLE that they started dating in 2020.

The Mad Men actress explained that Bianchini makes her feel like “a million bucks,” showering her with love and positivity. His admiration for Hendricks explains why she decided that he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

“Love is terrifying — it's really, really scary,” she admitted. "I didn't want to be apart from him. I realized that as those days were building up, I still wanted to be with him every single day, that I felt safe and loved, and it felt just right to me.”

He’s a camera operator

Bianchini works as a steadicam operator who, according to his website, splits his time between New York City and Los Angeles. He’s a member of the Society of Camera Operators.

He attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1992 to 1995, where he earned a master's degree in photography. Bianchini has been a camera operator since August 1999 and has worked on many high-profile TV shows and movies alongside A-list casts, including P.S, I Love You with Hilary Swank and Kathy Bates, The Switch with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman and season one of Good Girls, where he met his now-fiancé.

Hendricks and Bianchini first met while filming NBC’s Good Girls, which ran from 2018 to 2021, when it was canceled after four seasons.

The SAG Award winner starred as Beth Boland in the crime comedy-drama, while Mae Whitman portrayed her onscreen younger sister, Annie Marks. Retta played Ruby Hill, the sisters’ close friend and partner in crime.

They had an untraditional proposal

The couple had an untraditional proposal, in which they both popped the question to each other.

In an Instagram post announcing the engagement, Hendricks wrote, “We proposed to each other and we said yes!!! I will love and care for him forever.” In the photo, the newly engaged couple embraced one another, with Hendricks wearing a polka dot dress with a keyhole cutout, and Bianchini complementing her look with a blue suit.

Celebrity friends were delighted by the news and shared their congratulations in the comments.

"Yayayayayayay!!!!!❤️❤️❤️," wrote her Mad Men costar January Jones. "Howbow dat?! Congrats y'all!" Retta commented.

Speaking with PEOPLE in November 2023, Hendricks revealed the reasoning behind the joint proposal.

“There's so much pressure on men to do some grand gesture, and they don't know what's right or what's wrong,” she explained. “So we read some articles about people proposing to each other, and we said, ‘Why don’t we do that?' He went first, and then five or six days later, I did mine. They were both sweet and simple. We both said, ‘Please don’t shoot something out of a rocket. Don’t get an airplane involved.’ ”

They plan to wed in New Orleans

Hendricks opened up to PEOPLE about her and Bianchini’s upcoming wedding, explaining that they wanted it to take place in Louisiana.

“It will be very festive, because we love New Orleans,” The Buccaneers actress said. “I've gone there for years throughout my life, and I just think it's one of the greatest American cities. I love that it has its own cuisine, architecture, music and spirit. It's just a very vibrant and sexy city.”

They dressed to impress at The Art of Elysium's Gala

Hendricks and Bianchini often attend industry events together, and on Jan. 6, 2024, they stepped out in style at The Art of Elysium's 25th Anniversary HEAVEN Gala at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

The actress wore a red corset paired with a red slip skirt while her fiancé donned a classic black-and-white tuxedo.
