Christina Applegate: I Was Asked to Join Real Housewives of Beverly Hills But ‘I Would Be the Worst Housewife’

Christina Applegate: television veteran, Emmy winner… Real Housewife? Yep, it almost happened.

Applegate revealed that she was once approached to be a cast member on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in this week’s episode of her MeSsy podcast with Sopranos alum Jamie-Lynn Sigler. “I was asked to be a Housewife for Beverly Hills,” she said. “They asked me to be one probably… 10 years ago, I would say?”

But Applegate turned it down, and later, “I ended up becoming really good friends with the executive producer of [RHOBH] because our kids went to school together.” She asked the producer, “‘Now that you know me, would I have been a fun Housewife?’ He’s like, ‘No, it would’ve been the most boring s–t I’ve ever seen in my life.'”

Applegate explains that she didn’t feel like she’d be able to bring the drama required of a Real Housewife: “I wouldn’t have shown up for any dinners. I would’ve been in my sweatpants, and I would be laying in bed. What fun is that? None. I would be the worst Housewife anyway.”

Known for her roles on Married… With Children and Dead to Me, Applegate has remained a Bravo fan from the sidelines. In fact, she took to social media last week to complain about Robyn Dixon leaving the cast of Real Housewives of Potomac: “What in the actual f–k?… [Andy Cohen], you need to explain this to me. She is my fave [Housewife] of all the franchises!”
