Christina Applegate has said she may never act in front of the camera again, but is still planning to voice Kelly Bundy in the upcoming Married... with Children animated series.

Applegate concluded a three-season run starring in Netflix dramedy Dead to Me last year and said it will "probably" be her last on-screen role following her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis in 2021.

"I can't even imagine going to set right now. This is a progressive disease. I don't know if I'm going to get worse," the actress told Vanity Fair.

Applegate added she was still open to doing voiceover work, adding: "I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working."

Last year, it was revealed that '90s sitcom Married... with Children was being brought back to screens in an animated format, and Applegate is set to reprise her role as Kelly Bundy.

"I can't really say much, but all I know is that all four of us are attached to it. It’s not in our hands now, so we’re just kind of waiting," she revealed.

The other cast members she's referring to include Ed O'Neill as Bundy patriarch Al, Katey Sagal as his wife Peggy, and David Faustino as their son (and Kelly's little brother) Bud.

Last year, Applegate opened up about the moment she received her MS diagnosis, saying that it "sucked balls".

"I found out on a Monday after work that I had MS, a disease I'm gonna have for the rest of my life," the star recalled, adding that she had been dealing with "very small symptoms" for four years before her formal diagnosis.

She added that she was determined to complete her character's journey on Dead to Me, recalling: "The powers that be were like, 'Let's just stop. We don't need to finish it. Let's put a few episodes together'.

"I said, 'No. We're going to do it, but we're going to do it on my terms."
