Like many women, when Chriselle Lim was a new mom in 2015, she planned on balancing motherhood with her burgeoning career. The Korean-American fashion influencer and mom of two, who now boasts nearly 4 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, grappled with the signature challenge that nearly every working mom faces — locking down childcare so you can actually do your job.

“I’ve always prided myself as a working woman, and I told myself, ‘Once I become a mom, I got this. I’m going to be able to continue to thrive in my career and be an awesome mom,” the Southern California-based Lim told In The Know. “And then, of course, once I had my first daughter I soon realized that it was really, really hard.”

While the benefits of being a millennial influencer include a somewhat flexible schedule, no career is flexible enough to opt out of the “work” part altogether. And why would an ambitious mom want to anyway?

That’s why Lim created her new educational workspace BümoWork alongside education expert Joan Nguyen catered to working moms and their kids. Lim is doubling down on the idea that moms can use even more support when it comes to navigating the work-life balance. And their kids can even benefit, too.

Before BümoWork, Lim says, “The closest thing I was able to find was co-working spaces that had an unlicensed childcare situation, which is better than nothing but it’s not a permanent solution.”

That’s because with the unlicensed option, according to Lim, the childcare providers weren’t able to legally do things like feed, change or put her child down for a nap. You know, all the the things you need as a working mom.

“That was, for me, the equivalent of being at home,” Lim shared. “So I said, ‘You know what, I’m going to go out there and build my own because this doesn’t exist and I need it, and my friends need it, and I’m just going to do it for myself and my community.”

Lim has done just that. Opening later this month in Los Angeles, BümoWork will offer parents licensed childcare and an educational curriculum for kids ages 6 months to 5 years old, along with meeting rooms, WiFi, treats — and even a glam area to prep for your next TikTok unboxing.

Check this off as another amazing accomplishment for Lim that’s especially meaningful during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month as well as Mother’s Day. And while the mom of two said her kids, at 6 and 2, are too young to surprise her with anything this Mother’s Day, Lim shared, “I think I might take the day off, and I’ll probably just ask my partner to take care of them — because I think the best gift for moms is just let them have a day to themselves.”

Moms can definitely relate to that! The multi-hyphenate mom also shared her best mom tips as well as her must-have products.

Chriselle Lim’s mom tips:

Best parenting tip — “I’m a workaholic, and it’s easy to drown ourselves in our work, but kids are really simple. They just need 30 minutes of focused time with them. For at least 30 minutes, I’ll put my phone away and I’ll do whatever it is that they want to do.”

Best working-mom fashion tip — “I like to dress up, but I like to dress up everything with sneakers. And it actually looks really cool. So I always wear suits. Even at home, I’ll wear a casual blazer, sometimes with jeans or a full monochrome suit set. And if I have to go pick up the kids, I’ll just throw on sneakers.”

Best self-care tip — “Once the kids go to bed, I just put on a candle and I do my facial or I’ll jump on my Peloton for 20, 30 minutes. I always try to carve out 30 to 40 minutes a day after the kids go to bed, and that all adds up. And if you continue to do that as your ritual, then it’s equivalent of having one big day to yourself.”
