Chris Paul Sends Clear Message About His Basketball Future
Chris Paul came so close to capturing his first NBA title. Unfortunately for the veteran point guard, the Phoenix Suns were unable to take care of business after claiming an early 2-0 lead over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Following the heartbreaking loss on Tuesday night, Paul spoke to reporters about this missed opportunity. Unsurprisingly, this loss is going to stick with him for a long time.
“Right now, you’re just trying to figure out what you could have done more,” Paul said. “It’s tough. Great group of guys, hell of a season, but this one is going to hurt for a while.”
As for his future, Paul shut down any rumors about him potentially retiring from the NBA.
“It will take a while to process this or whatnot, but it’s same mentality. Get back to work. I ain’t retiring, if that’s what you’re asking. That’s out. So, back to work.”

Chris Paul has a $44.2 million player option for the 2021-22 season. It’s possible that he opts out of his contract to see what the open market has to offer.
Even at 36 years old, Paul remains one of the best players in the league. In his first season with the Suns, he averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
With time running out for him to win an NBA Finals, Paul has to make sure he makes the right decision this offseason.
