Have you ever tipped back a couple of cold ones and made a promise that perhaps you couldn’t keep?

Well, Chris Jones kept his word.

At last month’s Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII championship celebration, Jones told a cheering throng of fans: “For those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!”

Jones punctuated that with a “woooooo!” that would have made Ric Flair proud.

On Saturday night, Jones and the Chiefs agreed on a five-year contract that ensures he’s staying in Kansas City, perhaps for the rest of his career.

And after days of posting emojis on social media that left fans puzzled, Jones used his words Saturday night.

Jones wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Letssss gooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!”

Later, Jones wrote a simple message to fans: “KC….5 more years of greatness! 3x”

A trio of Jones’ teammates shared their thoughts about the deal on X. Here is what safety Justin Reid posted:

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was all smiles ... on X.

Defensive lineman Mike Pennel, who is in the photo with Jones responded to one post.

Defensive end Charles Omenihu noted that Jones got his bag.

Saturday night became sweeter for Chiefs fans after the news broke. Many of them took to social media to share their thoughts and/or celebrate Jones’ return to the Chiefs.

Here is a bit of what was said on X and Reddit.

“A Saturday night miracle. In Veach we trust,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another shared this: “And now, unlike last year, we can spend the rest of the offseason knowing exactly what we have to work with.”

A fan wrote on Reddit: “We are so back (even though we never left lol)“

Another was quite optimistic: “We will never lose again”

“STONE COLD CHIEF FOR LIFE,” a Reddit user posted.

Another wrote: “Ladies and Gentlemen we got him!!!”

Another optimistic fan shared this on Reddit: “So you’re telling me it’s not a threepeat but a SEVENPEAT???”

A Reddit user wrote: “The boys are back baby. It’s like they never left”

“I’m so happy there will be no more drama. We got him,” a fan on Reddit wrote.

Another had this to say: “This feels like we just won the Superbowl all over again!”
