Chris Christie on Trump's fat-shaming attack: 'We need a leader, not a child.'

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed Donald Trump for behaving like “a child” on Wednesday, after the former president shared a video that was edited to insult Christie over his weight.

Christie was depicted in the doctored clip as holding a plate of food and standing in front of an all-you-can-buffet while launching his presidential bid in New Hampshire on Tuesday. The anti-fat edited video originated on Twitter before Trump shared it on Truth Social.

Christie said Trump’s decision to share the clip demonstrated that he is “such a spoiled baby,” during a Wednesday appearance on CNN.

“If we had a child who conducted themselves like that, we’d send them to their room, not to the White House,” he added.

Christie further criticized Trump over the video in a tweet.

“At his advanced age, it is time to give up hope that Trump will ever grow up,” he wrote. “We need a leader, not a child.”

Christie, who has been outspoken in the past about frequently facing insults over his appearance, said on CNN that he has “struggled with my weight for about 20 years, like tens of millions of Americans.”

“What I haven't struggled with is my character,” Christie added on Twitter. “I’ll put that up against Donald Trump’s any day.”
