The few people who watched the comedy “Moonbase 8” know that Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce met his maker in his appearance on the show.

Kelce played a fictionalized version of himself in the series, and he’ll soon appear in another scripted show.

Actress Niecy Nash-Betts shared the news that Kelce would appear in the upcoming “Grotesquerie” on FX. It’s listed on IMDB as a drama and horror, so who knows what fate awaits Kelce’s character?

But he’s excited about the opportunity.

“Stepping into new territory with Niecy,” Kelce said in Nash-Betts’ Instagram post.

Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville are set to co-star in the show, although there are few details about the series’ plot. Deadline said “Grotesquerie” has just started production.

Entertainment Tonight quoted an unnamed source who said: “Travis Kelce is wearing many hats these days as he jumps into the acting world in his first TV series role, starring alongside Niecy Nash in ‘Grotesquerie’ by Ryan Murphy. Details of Travis’s role are still under wraps, however, it will be a guest-starring role, and his presence will be felt during the series.

“Travis is excited to exercise this skill set and show another side of himself off the field. More projects like this one are to come.”

Murphy is a six-time Emmy Award winner and has been behind shows like “Glee” “and “The People v. O.J. Simpson.”

Kelce continues to add to his television credits, as he is set to host “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?” That will air on Amazon Prime, although the release date hasn’t been made known.

A year ago, Kelce got good reviews when he was host of “Saturday Night Live” just weeks after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII. That apparently helped whet his appetite for acting, and his star also has risen in part because of his girlfriend, international singing star Taylor Swift.

Kelce also has a producer’s credit for the movie, “My Dead Friend Zoe.”

Football is still Kelce’s first job, and he signed a two-year contract last week that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid tight end. Kelce’s main focus on the field will be trying to help the Chiefs make history.

No NFL team has ever won three straight Super Bowl championships, but the Chiefs can accomplish that feat if they are handed the Lombardi Trophy in February.
