Chiefs’ ‘Monday Night Football’ game will air on different local channel than in the past

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman left Fox Sports after the 2021 NFL season, and they can now be seen and heard on ESPN.

But on Monday night, the broadcast duo will be calling a game from Arrowhead Stadium that will air on the CBS affiliate in Kansas City.

Every NFL game that airs on a cable or streaming channel must include a hometown option for fans of the teams that are playing. Because ESPN and ABC are in the same broadcast family, that has meant Chiefs’ Monday night games have also aired on KMBC (Ch. 9).

But that won’t be the case with the “Monday Night Football” game between the Chiefs and Raiders. It will be shown on ESPN and KCTV-5 in Kansas City. And bad news for fans of the “ManningCast” on ESPN2, Eli and Peyton are taking the week off.

WIBW.com noted this will be the first time a “Monday Night Football” game has ever been broadcast on KCTV.

Before the Chiefs take the field, fans in Kansas City will see a trio of games on Sunday afternoon

According to TV Passport, KCTV will air the Bills-Steelers game on Sunday. Fox 4 will have a Sunday afternoon doubleheader: Bears-Vikings at noon, followed by Cowboys at Rams.
