Chiefs fan Paul Rudd makes an appeal to referee Carl Cheffers ahead of Super Bowl

Fox Sports

Actor Paul Rudd personally was lifted up by the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV victory over the 49ers in 2020. That is to say, Rudd was picked up by Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during the postgame celebration.

Rudd, the Shawnee Mission West graduate who has gone on to star in the “Ant-Man” trilogy, “Anchorman,” “Clueless” and many other TV and movie projects, is a huge Chiefs fan.

And, like most Kansas City supporters, Rudd knows all about the history of Super Bowl LVII referee Carl Cheffers and the Chiefs.

During a media event for Rudd’s new movie, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” he was asked by ESPN a few pertinent Chiefs and Marvel Universe questions.

ESPN asked: “Would you rather win an Oscar or for the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl against the Eagles?”

Rudd: “I want to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.”

ESPN: “What’s your dream villain lineup for an MCU movie?”

Rudd’s Chiefs fandom showed through when he said: “I’d say Kang right there, he’s a pretty good one. I’d say Thanos was pretty spectacular. Hopefully, Carl Cheffers will not have to be added to that list. In case you don’t know, he’s the head ref for the Super Bowl. So come on, come on, Carl. You’ve called some rough ones against us in the past. Throw a brother a bone here. All right, Carl? Please?”

This was a funny exchange, which ESPN shared on Tik-Tok.
