Chiefs CB L'Jarius Sneed ruled out vs. Raiders after brother's death

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders for personal reasons.

Sneed was listed on Saturday's injury report as questionable for personal reasons. The Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell reported later that Sneed's oldest brother, TQ Harrison, was killed in their hometown of Minden, Louisiana, on Friday night.

Sneed, 24, traveled back home on Saturday on a jet provided by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, McDowell reported. The Chiefs (8-4) host the Raiders (6-6) at 1 p.m. ET.

Harrison, whose official first name is Tqarontarion Dcortez, was stabbed and killed on Friday night. Police in Minden said he died from a "single stab would to his back, that punctured his lung," per KTBS. They said he attempted to drive himself to a hospital, but crashed the vehicle into the back of the building. Harrison was 32.

Angela Washington, 47, has been arrested and charged with second-degree homicide in connection to the crime, police officials said late Saturday.

McDowell wrote a feature on Sneed and his family just last month. Though they are close now, he wrote, "they are a family of generational imprisonment" with murder convictions, drug arrest and life sentences.

Sneed credited Harrison with raising him until he was 6 years old while they lived with a maternal grandmother. Both of their parents were serving prison sentences.

Harrison, eight years older than Sneed, wasn't even 10 yet when he began changing diapers, cooking meals, doing laundry and eventually walking Sneed to school.

“It was a wonderful experience — something God put us through,” Harrison told The Star for the feature in November. “We overcome all obstacles. I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.”

He spoke about Sneed "more like a son than a brother," McDowell wrote. Sneed is also younger brother to TQ Mims, and is the father of 4-year-old Kyson.
