Chick-fil-A will soon begin $1 million in renovations with a drive-thru expansion at a far north Fort Worth location that was built just four years ago.

The construction work starts in early April at the Chick-fil-A at 2900 Western Center Blvd., next to a BriteZone Car Wash just west of Interstate 35W, according to state records. The company plans to replace the single-lane drive-thru canopy where customers order with a dual canopy, which indicates two drive-thru lanes instead of the current one lane.

The Chick-fil-A will also replace a drive-thru window with an automated door, and relocate light poles and a flag pole.

The construction is expected to take about three months, wrapping up at the end of June. It is unclear whether the restaurant will stay open during the work.

The privately owned, Atlanta-based company is on a building frenzy across North Texas.

Projects include a $500,000 renovation of the Chick-fil-A in Southlake starting June 1, and millions dollars on renovations and new restaurants across the region. At least three new Chick-fil-As will be built in Dallas-Fort Worth, and at least four existing locations are getting extensive renovations that include more drive-thru capacity at some.

At the University of North Texas in Denton, renovations begin in May at the Student Union to open a Chick-Fil-A.

Some of the renovation and remodeling projects require the Chick-fil-A to temporarily close for several weeks.

Chick-fil-A already has more than 100 locations in the Metroplex, including 16 in Fort Worth and 22 in Dallas.

According to state records over the past year, Chick-fil-A is investing at least $38.4 million in new Texas restaurants or renovations of existing locations.
