Chick-Fil-A manager helps distribute drive-thru COVID vaccines in South Carolina

They were on a wing and a prayer.

A South Carolina town called in a Chick-fil-A manager for his drive-thru expertise last Friday during a traffic jam at a COVID vaccine site, local CBS affiliate WLTX reported.

A computer glitch caused an hour-long backup outside Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, S.C., according to Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT.

Mayor Will Haynie dialed local Chick-fil-A manager Jerry Walkowiak for help, figuring that if anyone knew how to run a drive-thru, it would be him.

“When you need help, call the pros,” Haynie wrote in a tweet.

“He actually got there before I did,” Haynie told WTVT. “He was standing there. He was moving people along.”

Haynie said Walkowiak dropped the wait time from one hour to 15 minutes.

“Absolutely,” one resident replied to Haynie. “It would not have worked without them.”
