Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Says Goodbye in On-Set Video: ‘Best Job of My Life’

Eamonn Walker’s split from Chicago Fire appears nothing but amicable in a new behind-the-scenes video of Walker’s final day on set.

In an Instagram video shared by NBC and Wolf Entertainment on Thursday, the Chicago Fire cast and crew applaud Walker as he wraps production on the long-running drama series.

“I just want to say: Best cast. Best crew. Best production. Best job of my life. Thank you,” Walker tells the crowd after finishing his final scene as Chief Wallace Boden. Watch the sweet moment in full below:

Walker’s departure as a Chicago Fire series regular was first reported in early May, though a reason for his exit was not specified. During Wednesday’s Season 12 finale (spoiler alert!), Boden — who had been M.I.A. in recent episodes — returned to the Windy City and put his hat in the ring for the Chicago Fire Department’s Deputy Commissioner job, which he later scored. But Walker reportedly won’t be gone for good: According to our sister site Deadline, the actor is expected to appear in a recurring capacity in the future. Chicago Fire was previously renewed for a 13th season, which will air on NBC this fall in its usual Wednesdays-at-9 time slot.
