Check out the top performers from around the Coastal Bend at the regional track meet

While other regions saw their meets altered significantly by weather, the Region IV meets went off mostly without a hitch and several Corpus Christi area stars shined, claiming medals, personal bests and the ever elusive UIL State Track Meet berth next month in Austin.

The top two finishers in each event, along with the best mark, time or clearance among all third-place finishers across the state advance to the state meet May 2-4 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Here are some of the top performers from last weekend's Region IV track meets:

Class 5A

Flour Bluff's Owen Aggus finished third in the 400 and then helped the Hornets 1,600 relay win the regional championship.

Veterans Memorial's Temoc Zamora finished second in the 110 hurdles and Kiana Lanton finished second in the girls triple jump.

Sophomore Brody Garcia won the high jump for Veterans Memorial with a personal best clearance of 6-foot-8.

Flour Bluff's Cameran Dickson set a new PR (or personal record) with a jump of 23-1 to win the boys long jump.

Gregory-Portland's Kaitlyn Kilgore set a personal best mark in shot put to win Region IV-5A (40-4.5).

G-P pole vaulter Ryder Harrison won the boys pole vault with a clearance of 15-6, while Madison Snody claimed the girls title with a mark of 13-0.

Tyron Schmidt hit a big throw on his final attempt to move into second place and earn a state berth in boys shot put, while Sakara Wade advanced for the Wildcats in the girls 400 with a second-place finish.

King's Jackson Lovvorn earned a medal for the Mustangs, with a third-place finish in the boys 1,600. Teammate Diego Canto finished fourth in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1,600.

Class 4A

Kingsville junior Jasiah Rivera had a banner weekend at Javelina Stadium, winning the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and finishing second in the long jump with a school record mark of 24-1.25.

Tuloso-Midway's Jayden McCoy earned two medals on the weekend, finishing third in high jump and third in long jump (23-7.5).

Coastal Bend throwers went 1-2 in the boys shot put as Nathan Edlin (Ingleside) and Shawn Burdick (Tuloso-Midway) paced the field.

Harper Green of Beeville qualified for state twice with a win in the 300 hurdles and a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles.

Robstown's Nyomi Garcia earned two bronze medals, finishing third in the 800 and third in the 1,600-meter run.

Trinity Anscombe of Robstown won the girls long jump with a mark of 19-10.5.

Rockport-Fulton had two state qualifiers in pole vault as Brody Karl finished second in the boys event and Olivia Carney finished second in the girls event. Carney also finished third in the 100 hurdles.

Class 3A

Hebbronville's Eden Perez grabbed two state meet berths with second-place finishes in the 100 and 200.

Taft's Enrique Rodriguez will return to Austin, winning the 400 and also added a third-place finish in the 100.

George West's Michelle Lindholm won the 100 hurdles and her teammate Thana Hernandez claimed gold in the high jump.

Class 2A

Refugio's Ernest Campbell fought through an injury to win the long jump and finish second in the 100-meter dash as the Region IV-2A meet.

The Refugio boys won the 1,600 relay and finished second in the 400 and 800 relay.

Port Aransas distance runner William Carlough took home the bronze in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs.

Three Rivers' Caden Soliz took third in the triple jump and finished third in the long jump in Kingsville.

Refugio sophomore Jazmyn Howard won the 100 and triple jump and finished second in the long jump.

Refugio junior Riley Haug won the girls 400 and earned bronze in the high jump.

Ciara Tilley earned points in the throws for Refugio, finishing with silver in the discus and shot put.

The Refugio girls won the 400 and 800 relays.

Class A

McMullen County's Isabella Billingsley won the 1,600 (5:32.81) and 3,200-meter run, while teammate London Yanity finished second in each race, both advancing to state in the two events.

The McMullen County girls 800 relay and 1,600 relay were also Region IV-A champions.

Brandon Timms won the 3,200 (10:23.40) and finished second in the 1,600 for the McMullen County boys.
