Check Out a Sneak Peek of the 'Big Brother Reindeer Games' Premiere

'Big Brother Reindeer Games' co-host Jordan Lloyd reads instructions for a competition

Tonight, Big Brother takes a rare winter form in its spinoff Reindeer Games. The new show will feature 9 returning houseguests--including 5 previous winners--squaring off in a series of holiday-themed competitions. Their prize? The apple of Santa Claus' eye, and $100,000 to boot.

With a Big Brother product themed entirely around competitions, fans have wondered whether the show will bring back previous challenges or create completely new ones. In an exclusive sneak peek of tonight's premiere, co-host and season 11 winner Jordan Lloyd introduces the opening competition, and it's quite different than what we're used to in Big Brother fare.

After introducing herself, Jordan reads a message from Santa that outlines the challenge. "DJ Scroogie," the hottest DJ at the North Pole, is refusing to perform at the North Pole until someone solves his riddle. That "someone" is our 9 Reindeer Games contestants. For the first competition, clues will pop up periodically around the house to help solve the riddle, which is the DJ's favorite song. When they think they know the answer, they'll ring the silver bell and make their guess. The twist? They can only make one guess each for the entirety of the competition.

Though not as trademark as Big Brother competitions like OTEV and Zingbot, we actually have seen this in a couple of seasons past. In both seasons 7 and 13 (the latter of which Jordan herself actually won), the houseguests were given clues periodically around the house, and had to guess the winning answer. Unlike other challenges that prioritize strength or dexterity, this one is weighted on the mental and tactical side.

So what happens when someone gets the riddle right? They earn the mysterious "Naughty and Nice Power." Though the power has yet to be explained, it could be implied that the winner gets to place the remaining players on two separate lists. The "Nice" list would be safe for the week, while the "Naughty" list would be up for elimination. That way, despite Reindeer Games billing itself as focused on competitions, it still includes some strategy that has made Big Brother a summer staple for 20+ years.
