Check out all the records broken Thursday at the Drake Relays
The 2024 Drake Relays have arrived, and once again, records are being broken all over the Blue Oval in Des Moines.
Thursday marked the first full day of competition, with Friday and Saturday also having full Drake Relays slates of action. It was a high-school-heavy day on Thursday featuring some of Iowa's most explosive athletes.
With that, let's look at some of the records and milestones set during Thursday's action.
Addison Dorenkamp, West Des Moines Valley track-and-field
The Alabama signee is one of the most dominant Iowa high school runners in recent memory. Thursday proved that once again.
With a winning time of 9:23.69 in the girls 3,000, Dorenkamp set the Drake Relays and IGHSAU record in the event. Additionally, it was the second-fastest high school time in the nation this season.
