Check your pockets for $394K lottery ticket set to expire; see April 8 NC lottery results
ASHEVILLE – Carolina Cash 5 lottery players in North Carolina should double-check any previously purchased tickets to see if they are the winner of an unclaimed $394,216 jackpot prize announced by the NC Education Lottery in a recent news release.
To claim the prize, the ticket must be presented at lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15, which is the end of the 180-day period for winners to claim prizes for this winning game.
To help find the mystery winner, the NC Education Lottery is sharing news about the unclaimed prize with statewide media and posting alerts on the lottery’s website and social media channels.
“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you have the winning ticket,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We hope that whomever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim their prize soon so we can celebrate their big win with them.”
When was the unclaimed ticket purchased?
The unclaimed Cash 5 ticket was purchased almost six months ago on Oct. 17, 2023. Prizes for NC Education Lottery games like Cash 5 and Powerball must be redeemed within 180 days of the drawing for which the ticket was purchased: Monday, April 15, in this case.
For instant scratch-off games, this period is half as long, with only 90 days to claim prizes.
The Cash 5 numbers worth $394,216 jackpot
The winning numbers for the Oct. 17 Cash 5 draw worth nearly $400,000 are 9, 11, 14, 30 and 34.
The odds of matching all five white balls in a Cash 5 drawing are 1 in 962,598. Three winning tickets split the $1.18 million jackpot, so each winner received $394,216.
Where was the unclaimed ticket purchased?
Parkwood Convenience on Revere Road in Durham sold this winning ticket. The convenience store is located roughly 10 miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and 2 miles from Durham's Piney Wood Park.
