CHARLEVOIX — The Rotary Club of Charlevoix has made significant strides in its campaign to build a new playground at Mt. McSauba.

Since initiating the fundraiser in late 2023, the club has announced that they are halfway to their $250,000 target.

They recently received a substantial boost with the Chicago Summer Resort Club of Charlevoix stepping in to offer a $50,000 matching grant. This means any donations made now will be doubled until the total of $50,000 in matched funds is reached.

This fundraising initiative began following a community needs assessment by the City of Charlevoix, which highlighted the need for a modern playground at the Mt. McSauba recreational area. Historically committed to enhancing local youth development, the Rotary Club saw this project as an ideal opportunity to further support the community in partnership with the City of Charlevoix.

Plans are already underway for a community-led construction of the playground in spring 2025, promising a new space for children and families to enjoy.

Community members wishing to contribute can do so by visiting the Rotary Club’s donation page at rotaryclubofcharlevoix.org/Donations or mailing donations to Charlevoix Rotary Club, PO Box 532, Charlevoix MI 49720.

The club also plans to honor donors with commemorative signage at the new playground site, offering varying levels of recognition based on the donation size.
