Charlevoix golf meeting those big expectations early, win in Cheboygan

CHEBOYGAN — After finishing fourth in the state at the Division 4 level and returning much of their lineup this season, there were quite large expectations placed on the Charlevoix boys’ golf team entering 2024.

And so far they’re living up to those, even with little time out.

After opening over the weekend in Traverse City, the Rayders returned to the course Monday and pulled in a Cheboygan Invite victory with a 334 at the Cheboygan Country Club.

The day came with low rounds throughout the field, with Sault Ste. Marie following in second with a 339, followed by Boyne City, 341; Elk Rapids, 344; Ogemaw Heights, 345; St. Ignace, 350; Grayling, 369; and Petoskey, 379.

Harbor Springs also shot 398 and East Jordan carded a 400.
