Chapel Hill ISD announces $9.3 million bond election for May

TITUS COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Chapel Hill ISD in Titus County announced that their board of trustees voted to hold a bond election in May totaling in $9.3 million.

“The Long-Range Planning Committee, comprised of CHISD parents, teachers, administrators, and community members met for several months. This journey began in June of 2022 and the following months. District-wide data and feedback were gathered and analyzed, including district-wide facilities, teacher and staff feedback, school finances, and community input. The proposed bond package will focus on early childhood to address capacity issues and aging facilities.”

Chapel Hill ISD attempted a similar bond election last year, but it failed to pass by six votes.

According to Chapel Hill ISD the single-proposition bond election would include projects for an elementary gym, early childhood classrooms, Ag Mech expansions and junior high secure access.

Longview ISD approves $456.2 million May bond election

The district added that the bond proposal, if passed, would affect property taxes based on the residents home value. The increases are reportedly based on a home’s value after a possible $100,000 exemption for homesteads.

  • $150,000 homes would see a monthly increase of $4.13

  • $200,000 homes would see a monthly increase of $8.25

  • $250,000 homes would see a monthly increase of $12.38

The election that includes the bond will be on May 4, with early voting from April 22 to April 27.
