Chamber of Commerce wants to work to avoid any more demolitions like the Fox Farm Inn

CHILLICOTHE — The recent demolition of the Fox Farm Inn building on Bridge Street has many people looking at would could have been done to preserve the building and others like it in the community.

In support of preservation Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mile Throne wrote a letter to the Chillicothe Design Review Board. In this he stated that the loss of the 181-year-old building was a "harsh blow." He noted that the efforts to save the building showcased that the community wants to keep the historic history alive while still allowing for growth

"In a city as historically rich as Chillicothe, there can be a better balance between further economic development and retaining historic structures," wrote Throne.

He hopes to avoid unnecessary demolitions of significant buildings in the future. After attending a recent Design Review Board meeting with other preservation officials Throne said the board seemed happy to work together to avoid situations like the Fox Farm Inn demolition in the future.
