Challenger Frank Allgood unseats incumbent Dale Black in Mauldin City Council runoff
Mauldin will have a new face on its council next year after Frank Allgood defeated incumbent Dale Black by 122 votes in Tuesday's runoff.
Allgood received 633 votes to Black's 511, representing a 6.4% voter turnout. The votes will be certified Thursday at noon.
Neither candidate managed to get 50% of the votes in the Nov. 2 election where three names appeared on the Seat 5 ticket.
Black had 711 to Allgood's 623 votes. Travis Reeder received 554 votes in his bid for Seat 5. A total of 1,891 votes were cast in the Nov. 2 election.
In that election, Mauldin had a 10.6% voter turnout. Greenville County as a whole saw 3.57% of its registered voters cast their ballots.
