Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance at 2024 Grammys Amid Health Battle

As if the 2024 Grammys weren't eventful enough, Celine Dion ended the night by making a surprise appearance.

The music icon—who has been dealing with some serious health issues lately—unexpectedly came out to present the award for Album of the Year, which ultimately went to Taylor Swift for her Midnights album.

The appearance from Dion, 55, comes as a major shock to viewers, especially since the "Power of Love" singer has been battling a rare, incurable disease called stiff person syndrome. The disorder can cause debilitating muscle spasms, among other things, eventually turning sufferers into "human statues," she previously explained while revealing the diagnosis back in December 2022.

While standing on the Grammys stage at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, Feb. 4, Dion told the audience, "When I say that I'm happy to be here, I really mean it. From my heart."

She then took a second to pause, while appearing visibly emotional over what has been a tumultuous battle for her health.

"Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world," the legendary musician stated. "And now it gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends, Diana Ross and Sting, presented to me 27 years ago."

The crowd couldn't give Dion enough applause, as everyone from the audience could be heard screaming and seen standing on their feet for the "My Heart Will Go On" songstress.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) even shared a video of the standing ovation from the crowd, as nearly everyone in the arena rose to honor the five-time Grammy winner.

"I tell you, Celine Dion has been through a lot lately. So, it's so good to see her standing here. She looks so good," one fan wrote online after the surprise appearance.

"The emotion in her voice...I'm so happy to see Celine Dion up and out again," another person added.

Someone else summed up everyone's feelings pretty well, writing, "Celine Dion, you're a legend and we love you so much."
