Celebrate Memorial Day and Ski to Sea weekend at these Bellingham events, starting Friday

Memorial Day is Monday, May 27, and to celebrate the long weekend we’ve put together a guide of local Bellingham events this weekend. Whether you are celebrating Memorial Day with loved ones, or are just visiting for the Ski to Sea race, here are a few events you won’t want to miss:

Ski to Sea Block Party & Fish Fry at Boundary Bay Brewery

Boundary Bay Brewery is kicking off Memorial Day weekend with a block party from 4-10 p.m. on Friday, May 24. The free party will include live music by Legendary Chucklenuts, craft beer, a fish fry, games and Cicchitti’s Pizza. The party is also a fundraiser for Bellingham Food Bank, as $1 from each beer sold will be donated. Doors open at 4 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. in Boundary Bay’s beer garden at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham. The event is open to all ages.

102nd Whatcom Memorial Day Parade

The Whatcom Memorial Day Parade is back for its 102nd year from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25. “The parade is a day of fun for families in Washington and cross-border Canadian cities to honor our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” the event’s website states. The parade will start at the corner of Cornwall Avenue and Alabama St. at noon, and continue south on Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham.

GrooveBot concert at Boundary Bay Brewery

Boundary Bay Brewery is hosting more live music at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25 by the GrooveBot, “a high-energy funk experience! Driving horn lines, powerful vocals and a tight rhythm section playing all of your favorite Funk, Soul, and RnB hits from the 1960’s through today,” according to Boundary Bay’s website. Tickets cost $7 online in advance or $10 at the door. Doors open at 4 p.m. at Boundary Bay at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham. The event is open to all ages.

Memorial Weekend Block Party at Stones Throw Brewery

Stones Throw Brewery is hosting a block party from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 25. The event is open for all ages and will include live music, food trucks and craft beer. After Ski to Sea, the brewery is extending its beer garden patio and will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 26. Stones Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave. in Bellingham.

Fairhaven Festival 2024

Bellingham’s biggest street fair, the Fairhaven Festival, is back for another year from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 26. The street fair will include live music, food trucks, over 60 craft and food vendors and a beer and wine garden. The free event is in the historic Fairhaven district at 1106 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.
